Over the last few years, I have become more connected to
my cycle. After going through almost every contraceptive possible, including an IUD that my body rejected; numerous pills that left me feeling sleepy, moody or bloated; and the ring, I deciding to stop all birth control. My cycle began to come into balance. Instead of seeing my monthly cycle as a burden or source of pain, I try to relish the various emotions, sensations and sensitivities I feel. This poem came in two parts, spanning two cycles. I hope to continually connect with my womb and my body and encourage other women to do the same. It is a powerful time to feel, be made anew, take rest and be in the magnificence of being a woman.
