My friend’s Anna and Rob were getting married on July 4th. Anna’s maid of honor Bit, decided to do a special ceremony for the bride, with all her female friends and family. When asked if I would participate, I thought about Anna and my special moments with her — hearing about her life, her personal journey and exploration of her self-worth. The words, “all you are is all the world needs,” came to me and inspired the first half of the poem. The second half of the poem came in a spoken word cadence while I was on a plane a few weeks later. I was pondering the value of women and how we are all sisters and connected as creators. This is a poem-spoken-word hybrid, if there is such a thing.
